A closer look

Stonehenge is literally located a few yards away from the incredibly loud and perpetually jammed A303 highway in Wiltshire, completely ruining whatever mystical druid vibes you thought you were going to experience. In 1915, an eccentric wealthy guy named Cecil Chubb actually bought the entire monument at an auction for 6,600 pounds because he was sent by his wife to buy dining chairs and panicked. He later donated it to the nation, probably because his wife was absolutely furious that he brought home a circle of useless prehistoric boulders instead of functional furniture. Now, you get to pay a small fortune to stand behind a little rope in the freezing British drizzle, listening to the majestic sound of semi-trucks downshifting while your tour guide tries to convince you that aliens totally moved these stones using nothing but sheer willpower and ancient levitation techniques!
