Spiders are territorial cannibals, making farming them impossible. To get their incredibly strong silk, scientists spliced arachnid genes directly into goats. These transgenic mammals lactate silk proteins, which are then extracted and spun into ultra-tough fibers. It is a terrifying biological mashup purely to manufacture better ropes.
