Normal salmon only grow during the warm months, which is way too slow for the global market. Scientists injected them with a growth hormone gene from Chinook salmon, kept permanently activated by a promoter gene from an ocean pout eel. The result is a franken-fish that hits market size twice as fast, entirely oblivious to the changing of the seasons.
