Talk about a crisis of artistic direction. Shinji Mikami's team spent years trapped in a masochistic loop. One version was too supernatural, one was too much like an action movie, and one literally birthed Devil May Cry. They scrapped years of work repeatedly until Mikami finally snapped, changed the camera angle, and effectively reinvented the modern third-person shooter out of pure, exhausted frustration.
