Camera auto-focus uses phase detection to split light pairs

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Before taking a picture, advanced lenses split incoming light into two separate images. The processor then rapidly adjusts the glass until those two overlapping images align perfectly. It is essentially forcing your camera lens to do a rapid-fire eye exam on itself.
