The spiny mammal with no teeth
Australia's other weird egg-laying mammal is basically a walking cactus that exclusively slurps its meals. Echidnas lack teeth entirely, relying instead on a long, sticky tongue to catch ants and termites. They then use hard pads at the roof of their mouth and base of their tongue to grind the bugs into a paste before swallowing. Truly a culinary nightmare.
