Hong Kong ferry seats flip to face forward
Riding backward on a boat makes people miserable, so the iconic Star Ferry found a lazy workaround. The wooden benches have a hinged backrest that can be physically slammed over to the opposite side. When the boat reaches the dock and reverses direction, the crew simply pushes all the seats back, magically ensuring everyone gets to face the front without turning the massive boat around.
