A closer look

Tyrannosaurus rex actually lived closer in time to the invention of the smartphone than it did to the existence of the Stegosaurus, completely ruining every childhood dinosaur toy battle you ever orchestrated. The Stegosaurus roamed the Earth during the late Jurassic period around one hundred and fifty million years ago, while the T-Rex did not show up until the late Cretaceous period, roughly sixty-six million years ago. This eighty million year gap proves that our perception of prehistoric history is hopelessly compressed. To a T-Rex, a Stegosaurus was ancient, fossilized history, much like how teenagers currently view anyone over the age of thirty. Hollywood continues to disrespect the timeline in every prehistoric movie, but science remains a cold, unyielding buzzkill to our joy
