When Saturn’s rings looked like giant ears

Early telescopes were essentially just blurry magnifying glasses. When early stargazers first looked at Saturn, the poor resolution made the massive ring system look like two massive handles or ears sticking out of the sides. It took decades of optical upgrades to realize it was actually debris.
