Magma can make the ground swell before an eruption

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

The ground is supposedly solid, unless there is a giant reservoir of molten rock trying to escape. As subterranean magma pools fill up, the intense pressure actually bends and inflates the overlying bedrock like a terrible geological balloon. It is a very literal warning sign that things are about to get exceedingly loud.
