Packed with massive lithium-ion batteries, this self-healing microgrid constantly monitors the frequency of the surrounding state grid. The moment a distant coal plant trips and the electrical frequency drops, the software detects the anomaly and automatically injects up to 150 megawatts of power into the grid within a fraction of a second. It fixes the blackout before human operators even realize a blackout was about to happen.
