While modern people view them as squeaky cage pets, the Incas viewed guinea pigs as the ultimate sacrificial fast food. Known as 'cuy', these rodents were frequently roasted and left out as offerings to towering mountain peaks, known as Apus, to ensure good harvests and avoid high-altitude avalanches.
