To the Incas, precious metals were purely bodily fluids of the cosmos. They held no monetary value for gold, treating it exclusively as the literal, radiant sweat dripping off their sun god, Inti. They used it to plate entire temple walls, inadvertently advertising a massive, shiny target to greedy Spanish invaders who definitely didn't see it as divine perspiration.
