Today, an Apple Watch can track your heart rhythm while you aggressively ignore an email. But the very first EKG machine invented by Willem Einthoven took up an entire room and weighed a massive 600 pounds. Patients had to plunge both of their arms and one of their legs into giant buckets of saltwater just to conduct the electrical signals properly. Truly a relaxing medical procedure.
