A closer look
When your vehicle weighs sixty tons, delicately turning the front axle is an entirely laughable concept. Tanks lack any form of traditional steering mechanism. Instead, when the driver wants to turn right, the transmission violently cuts power to the right track while continuing to aggressively drive the left track forward. This immense differential in propulsion violently drags the heavy chassis around in a circle. It is crude, wildly destructive to whatever happens to be underneath it, and devastatingly effective.
