Ancient surgeons used ants as living stitches

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

When sewing heavily bleeding wounds shut with a needle was entirely too complicated, ancient surgeons opted for biological staples. In parts of Africa and India, practitioners would aggressively hold the edges of a wound together and allow giant ants to wildly bite down on the seam. They would then quickly twist the bodies off, leaving the entirely locked jaws firmly embedded as temporary organic stitches.
