HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Flowing water easily strips away the fine sand, but it absolutely fails at moving the heavy, rounded rocks. Over time, these dense stones settle into a perfectly tightly packed, interlocking shield on the channel floor. The river inadvertently builds an impenetrable rock floor to stop itself from digging any deeper.
