Moa birds had no wing bones

Most flightless birds at least retain tiny, embarrassing vestigial wings as a sad reminder of their aerodynamic past. The giant moa of New Zealand, however, fully committed to grounding itself. It completely eradicated its own wing structures over time, evolving into a towering feathered column of pure leg muscles entirely devoid of any upper limbs.
