Fructose found in fresh apples provides a much more steady and sustained release of energy to the human brain than the rapid caffeine spike obtained from drinking a standard cup of black coffee. The natural sugars combined with the physical exertion required to chew the dense fibrous fruit actually do a superior job of waking up your groggy central nervous system in the early morning hours. Unfortunately, society has decided that sipping a burnt, bitter bean water from a cardboard cup looks significantly more sophisticated and adult than aggressively chomping loudly on a piece of raw fruit during your morning commute like a feral horse. Health is great, but looking highly caffeinated and deeply stressed is clearly the superior aesthetic
