How cells take out their trash
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
When a cell realizes it has hoarded too much trash, it resorts to the biological equivalent of opening a window and tossing it out. Exocytosis transports large molecules and waste products out of the cell by fusing an internal vesicle with the outer membrane. Once merged, the vesicle casually dumps its entire contents into the extracellular space, leaving the mess for the rest of the body to handle.
