Dion Fortune was a prominent British occultist who aggressively claimed she fought a massive, entirely invisible psychic war against Nazi Germany from the comfort of her London living room. While the Royal Air Force was out dodging actual bullets, she organized a network of magicians to supposedly beam highly concentrated thoughts of peace and angelic protection directly at Adolf Hitler's brain. She genuinely believed her magical meditations were creating a massive astral barrier across the English Channel, completely taking the credit when the German invasion plans were inevitably delayed. It is remarkably convenient to participate in a global conflict using a weapon that produces absolutely zero physical evidence, allows you to stay in your pajamas, and requires zero physical fitness. You have to admire the absolute sheer confidence required to look at the combined military might of the Allied forces and confidently whisper that your visualization board is doing the heavy lifting
