Before drip paintings, Pollock struggled to draw

Before he revolutionized the modern art world by violently throwing paint at canvases on his floor, he desperately struggled with standard painting techniques. His early attempts at drawing simple anatomy were genuinely so amateurish that his instructors basically told him to find another career, proving that abstract expressionism was essentially born from a complete inability to draw a straight line.
