A closer look
Long before keyboard cats took over the internet, they were influencing classical composition. Scarlatti had a pet cat named Pulcinella who enjoyed walking across the keys of his harpsichord. One day, the cat stepped on a completely random, dissonant sequence of notes. Scarlatti found the chaotic melody so inspiring that he wrote an entire, highly technical musical piece based precisely on the cat's accidental paw placements.
