Why pharaohs were buried with mummified baboons

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Because arriving to the underworld without an aggressive primate would be embarrassing, several pharaohs were buried alongside heavily mummified baboons. These animals were associated with the god Thoth and lunar magic. Sadly for the baboons, their divine status meant they were swiftly euthanized just to serve as eternal royal companions.
