The 1904 World's Fair helped invent ice cream cones
Sometimes the greatest innovations are born entirely out of terrible inventory management. At the 1904 World's Fair, an ice cream vendor completely ran out of paper serving bowls. Panicking, he aggressively begged the neighboring waffle vendor to quickly roll his hot pastries into a cone shape, accidentally creating an incredibly edible vessel.
