Goats have rectangular pupils that provide them with a spectacular 320-degree field of vision, allowing these grazing prey animals to spot approaching predators from almost any direction without ever needing to turn their heads. This bizarre ocular geometry also helps them absorb more light in dark environments while minimizing the blinding glare of the overhead sun, which is crucial for animals that spend their entire miserable lives staring blankly at the ground chewing grass. While human beings are stuck with circular pupils that limit our peripheral vision and force us to actually turn our necks like primitive peasants, goats are quietly operating with an ultra-widescreen panoramic visual upgrade.
