Thirsty plants may click loudly—but you can’t hear them

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Vegans can't even claim the moral high ground anymore. Researchers have discovered that when tomato and tobacco plants are deprived of water or have their stems cut, they emit high-frequency acoustic pops. While we can't hear them, the volume is comparable to normal human conversation. Essentially, your neglected houseplant is screaming into the void, but you're just too deaf to care.
